I
am available to talk about my work and the concepts and research that
inform it.
This is an outline of philosopher Michel Foucault's concept of heterotopia
or other spaces which he discussed in ‘Des Espaces Autres’ a radio
broadcast in 1967. For Foucault heterotopia are real spaces that
co-exist along side our everyday spaces but we consider them to
be other in some way.
I am by no means an expert in Foucault, but
this idea had resonance with my work. I presented a version
of this talk at the Greenman Festival as part of the Einstein
Talks in 2010. In that version, I applied Foucault's concept
to the festival tent.
